St. Mark's Hospital Celebrates the Lives of those Affected by Breast Cancer

Salt Lake City, UT – St. Mark’s Hospital is inviting its staff and members of the community to honor women who’ve tragically lost their lives to breast cancer and those who triumphantly live on at its annual Pink Ribbon Tying event on Monday, October 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Together we will commemorate their lives and decorate our campus by tying pink ribbons, inscribed with the names of loved ones, to the trees on our Hospital grounds.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 226,870 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed and 39,510 women will die from breast cancer this year. About 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

Walk-in mammograms will be available for women age 40 and older (insurance will be billed for this preventative service). All women who get a mammogram during the month of October will receive a free tumbler cup.

In addition, a free health fair will also be held in the Women’s Pavilion lobby, which will include blood glucose and cholesterol screening, BMI and body fat percentage readings, and more. Learn more about Breast Cancer Awareness Month events at St. Mark's Hospital.
