Cardiac Rehabilitation Center
The purpose of cardiac rehabilitation is to provide patients recovering from heart surgery or heart attack with the environment necessary to attain personal recovery and health maintenance goals. Patients’ cardiac rehabilitative needs are the central focus of our program. We strive to help each patient meet their specific needs to enable them to achieve optimal levels of cardiac function and overall well being.
How Our Program Works
Medically supervised exercise and scientifically sound education are the basis of our cardiac rehabilitation program. The heart is a muscle that can be strengthened by gradually increasing amounts and intensity of exercise.
Based upon a thorough pre-entrance exam, an individual exercise prescription will be written. Within the guidelines of the exercise prescription, participates will do a variety of appropriate exercise activities. Throughout the recovery process, this low-intensity activity will gradually increase according to patient levels of fitness.
Cardiac rehabilitation patients participate in the program about three times a week for approximately 12 weeks. Each education and exercise session lasts about 1 1/2 hours.
