Anesthesiologists

At St. Mark’s Hospital we’re thankful every day for the dedicated anesthesiologists that perform such a crucial supporting role at the hospital. They hold your life in their hands so our staff in surgery can execute their work with focus and efficiency.

Needless to say, we demand excellence. And the Board Certified physicians (medical doctors or doctors of osteopathic medicine) Anesthesiologists provides it, with round-the-clock coverage for all types of scheduled surgeries and emergency procedures.

Before surgeries, these dedicated professionals complete a comprehensive patient evaluation to determine the type and amount of anesthesia that would be most appropriate for you. They consider medical condition, surgical procedure requirements and response to anesthesia; they then conduct a patient consultation during which they inform you of your options, making certain the risks and benefits of each alternative are fully explained.

During surgery anesthesiologists monitor your heart rate and other vital signs while controlling levels of pain and consciousness, freeing surgeons from distraction.

Once surgery is over, they keep tabs on your level of pain and see to it that recovery from anesthesia is as smooth as possible. And if you’re scheduled for an overnight stay at St Mark’s Hospital, expect them to make a visit to check up and see how you are doing.
