The hospital strategic plan has been refreshed and was presented at 15 State of the Hospital meetings in April and May. Key areas that have direct or indirect impact on physicians include:

  1. EXPERIENCE – Improve patient experience
    2017 GOAL: 76% HCAHPS (top box % +); 2016 baseline 72%
    • Department leaders round daily on all patients
    • Patient-centered bedside rounding
    • Improve effectiveness of teams
    • Supervisor/employee 1:1 “rounding” monthly
    • Implement a Patient & Family Advisory Board
  2. ENGAGEMENT – Strengthen physician / employee
    2017 GOAL:  78% overall favorable engagement
    • Peers interview all candidates for hire
    • Strengthen 1:1 employee/supervisor rounding
    • Improve and enhance Walk-A-Mile
    • Leaders meet 1:1 with each employee monthly to better understand needs, goals, and opportunities for improvement. [Employee Leader Rounding]
  3. ACCESS – Broaden service line patient access
    • Additional freestanding ED in NW West Valley City
    • Funding secured; land purchase in process
    • May 2017 project start
    • April 2018 new facility open
    • Expect 5500 new patient visits in 1st year
    • Goal: expand St. Mark’s area of service
  4. NETWORK – Network & Patient Capture
    • Strengthen & expand cardiovascular services
    • Build roster of cardiologists & CV surgeons
    • New cutting edge minimally-invasive procedures:
      • Watchman™ (left atrial appendage closure - LAAC)
      • MitraClip™ (transcatheter mitral valve replacement)
  5. Strengthen Clinical Quality
    • Continuous accreditation readiness
    • Emphasis on patient safety & VTE reduction
  6. Ensure Financial Health
    • As a result of the above, achieve budget goals for earnings, efficiency and growth
