March Employee of the Month
Renee Sanchez was named the March hospital-wide employee of the month for not just one, but two recent life-saving actions — both on and off-duty.
As the Critical Care Educator at St. Mark’s Hospital, Renee is no stranger to helping others under pressure -- a skill that came in handy when she was leaving the grocery store recently and saw a person in distress in the parking lot. She quickly sprang into action and immediately performed CPR until EMS arrived. The person would not have survived without Renee’s intervention. She was recognized by local EMS for her quick thinking and heroism in saving the life of a complete stranger.
While on-duty at St. Mark’s, Renee responded to a Labor and Delivery Code to help save the life of a mother and her newborn daughter. To say ‘thank you,’ the patient brought in a special photo of her daughter that reads, “Thank You for Saving My Mommy and Me.” It is a gift that Renee will cherish forever and proudly displays on her desk, reminding her why she loves being a nurse.
