After a nationwide search, St. Mark’s Hospital announced the selection of Ralph Costanzo, M.D., MHA, as Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Dr. Costanzo joins St. Mark’s from HCA’s Alaska Regional Hospital, where he served as CMO since 2016. During his time in Alaska, he was successful in his work on many hospital and medical staff initiatives, including full revisions of Medical Staff Bylaws, throughput and efficiency activities, as well as significant increases in quality measures and patient care. Prior to his time at Alaska Regional, Dr. Costanzo practiced as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, focusing on treatment and injuries of the hand, wrist and elbow. He also served as chairman of the Orthopedics Department at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, Mont.
Dr. Costanzo earned his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Mich., and completed a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Costanzo will begin as CMO in May.
