James G Howard, MD

Ophthalmology
Dr. Howard graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University and received his M.D. at the University of Utah.  Following medical school, he completed an internship at the University of Utah, ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa, and a fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at the University of Iowa.  He has had the great opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and residents during each step of his career, and he has been recognized with awards for outstanding patient care.  He speaks Spanish fluently and has participated in humanitarian missions to Latin America and Mongolia.  While in Mongolia, he was part of a humanitarian team that established the field of retina surgery for this country.  He has served in several leadership positions within the Utah Ophthalmology Society and currently serves on the governing council of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, and the Utah Ophthalmology Society.
