As of October 2018, St. Mark's Hospital is a verified Level II Trauma Center per the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and the Utah Department of Health. After extensive in-house preparation and a comprehensive review, the ACS recognized that our patient care processes and outcomes in critical trauma care meet its stringent national standards.
What does that mean for patients and their families? St. Mark's now offers round-the-clock care for traumatic injuries. Experienced physicians and anesthesiologists, as well as ophthalmologists, facial plastic surgeons, vascular and complex orthopedic specialists are standing by 24/7.
Designation as a Level II Trauma Center also means that people can depend on our rapid response times, advanced technology and definitive care processes. Combined with expert medical care, these capabilities ensure the best outcomes possible for patients or their loved ones who are seriously injured.
Emergency medical service providers in the communities we serve will also benefit from having another Level II Trauma Center close by. After bringing patients to the specialists at St. Mark's Hospital, EMTs and ambulances become available to the public sooner.
